The National Equality and Diversity Awards 2014
The National Equality and Diversity Forum (NEDF) is organizing the National Equality and Diversity Awards 2014 alongside the Equal Opportunities Ombudsman’s Office of the Republic of Lithuania. This awards ceremony will honour the most deserving people, organizations and initiatives for their contributions to the promotion of equality and diversity. This year’s National Equality and Diversity Awards will take place on the 28th of April, 2015 at the entertainment and business centre “Forum Palace.”
The people, organizations, initiatives, projects, ideas, work and actions that have most contributed to the promotion of tolerance and diversity will be recognized according to the following nine categories:
Award for Gender Equality. The award is given for the promotion of non-stereotypical views of men and women and efforts to ingrain them in society.
Ethno Dialogue Award. The award is given for efforts to integrate ethnic communities, and reduce xenophobia and racial and ethnic stereotypes.
Rainbow Award. The award is given for contributions in the field of LGBT rights, the reduction of homophobia, biphobia and transphobia, and the promotion of the LGBT community’s sense of openness and inclusion in society.
Golden Age Award. The award is given to an individual, regardless of his/ her age, who has undertaken an initiative to realize his/ her potential and goals, the merits of uniting people of various age groups and a personal example in tackling the false stereotypes of age at work, leisure or in engaging in social activities.
Overcoming Obstacles Award. The award is given for overcoming a physical, social, cultural, or societal obstacle in order to ensure that people with disabilities live with dignity and participate in society.
Religious Diversity Award. The award is given to a person or organization for implementing a project that contributed to the promotion of religious freedom and diversity in Lithuanian society.
Breakthrough of the Year Award. The award is given for an action, project, initiative, etc. that widely contributed to the promotion of diversity and equality in society.
Journalist of the Year Award. The award is given to a representative of the media who promoted equality, diversity and human rights through their work.
Lifetime Achievement Award. The award is given to a person for his/her achievements in the field of human rights and contributions to the promotion of equality, diversity and tolerance.
